Serving people makes me smile

What do you usually do when you have free time? Sleeping? Playing online games? If you are thinking of what to do in the coming weekend, why not try to be a volunteer and to serve the needy ones in society?

As a fanatic of serving others, I have been a volunteer for over 10 years already. I enjoy serving other people as I am fond of watching those I served showing broad smiles to me.

When I was in primary school, one day I followed the teachers to a home for the elderly. This was my first time to serve others. On that day my schoolmates and I helped to hold a Christmas party to the senior, we sang, we danced, we chatted with them and we enjoyed the party with them. It was an incredible 'first time'!

During secondary school time, I served others by participating in services organized by various community service organizations, like UNICEF. These are all incredible experience. However, these are not the most enjoyable parts of my life as a volunteer.

The most interesting part of being a volunteer is to try orgainizing service programmes. When I was promoted to high school, I had the chance to hold service projects. It was from that time onward, I love serving others even more.

When I got into University, even though my study is posing great pressure on me, I never say no to be a volunteer and to organise service programmes as when those I served smile to me, it is actually a very joyful thing. Some of them even send me e-cards during festivals! These all soothe my study pressure.

Even after my university life, I wish I could serve others by providing service using my knowledge. I want to assist charitable organisations by giving them free administrative service so that they can save more money for serving more people.

Serving others is not just about making others smile, it is also to make yourself feel happy when you feel their joy. String up and be a volunteer TODAY!
